Christmas contra dance includes potluck, food donations

The Christmas edition of the Sautee Nacoochee Center's contra dance and potluck dinner is Dec. 17 in the historic gym.

An addition to this year's Christmas Dance will be a "Food Labyrinth" in the center of the gym. The projected image, designed by John Bell, is intended to raise donations for the Northeast Georgia Food Bank. All attendees are invited to bring canned or boxed nonperishable foods to place along the labyrinth.

After volunteers help gather the donated food, the tables will be cleared and the dance will begin around 7:30 p.m.

The music will be provided by Scott Russell and Friends with Susan Davis as the caller.

Twice during the evening is a pause for a waltz.

All ages are welcome; children under age 8 are free, and all must be accompanied by a supervising adult. No partner is needed for these dances, and no experience is necessary.

Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for students, with a $1 discount for SNCA members. Those who come for the potluck are asked to bring a dish to share, preferably a salad or casserole.

The SNCA gym is located on Ga. 255 N just off Ga. 17 in Sautee.
