Fernbank Museum of Natural History is honoring dad and all other heroes with Superhero Day on Sunday.
Fernbank will host various characters, games, comic book artists and special activities from noon to 4 p.m. June 15 at 767 Clifton Road NE in Atlanta. Guests are invited to dress in their most heroic gear and participate in the costume contest.
Superhero Day is one of several summer offerings featured during Fernbank’s 97 Days of Play series. Festivities will include arts, crafts, temporary tattoos and giveaways in addition to opportunities to watch clips from several superhero-themed shows.
Terminus Media, an Atlanta-based independent comic book publisher and animation studio, will join the fun with an assortment of superheroes available for photos. Terminus will also provide comic book artists who can draw specific characters for guests, as well as coloring sheets.
The Box Hero Corp., an army of handcrafted, life-sized action figures, will make an appearance again. Everyone’s favorite heroes crafted out of elaborate cardboard boxes will be available for photos.
Guests may also save the world from terrible villains by carefully navigating cones and hula hoops in Fernbank’s “Save the World” game. They will also find out if their character for the day is good or evil with the superhero/villain name generator game. Guests can also participate in a scavenger hunt and a themed toss game.
All Superhero Day activities are included with museum admission and are free for Fernbank members. Admission is $18 for adults, $17 for students and seniors, $16 for children ages 3-12 and free for children ages 2 and younger. Parking is free.
