Annual Jeffrey Gay Memorial Golf Classic to raise money for area children

In 2012, Jeffrey Gay lost his life to prescription drug abuse. An upcoming golf tournament will pay tribute to Gay, whose grandfather Dallas is the community co-chairman of the Medical Association of Georgia Foundation’s ‘Think About It’ campaign.

The fourth Jeffrey Gay Memorial Golf Classic will begin with a shotgun start at noon May 14 at the Apple Mountain Golf Course in Clarkesville. The $75 entry fee covers greens fees and a cart at 901 Rock Ford Creek Road in Clarkesville. It will also include dinner from Johnny’s BBQ.

It will raise money for the MAG Foundation and the We Care Foundation, which helps needy children in Gainesville.

“These funds will support our ‘Think About It’ campaign to reduce prescription drug abuse,” said Dr. Jack M. Chapman Jr., president of the MAG Foundation. “The funds will also be used to expand ‘Project DAN’ to provide first responders with naloxone, which reverses the effects of drug overdoses and has already been credited with saving several lives in northeast Georgia.”
