Thompson: Send Christmas cards that help charities, too

If you want an easy, painless way to give to charities, you need to check out CardsThatGive.org. It's a nonprofit Web site that lists greeting cards you can buy from more than 100 different charities. The proceeds from the cards help fund a lot of worthy causes. Do it. You'll feel better about yourself.

My wife and I enjoy cooking vegetables on our outdoor grill. But it drives me nuts when the onion slices fall through the grate. The solution: Cut your onion in thick slices and put a bamboo stick through each slice. This also makes it easier to flip the onions on the grill.

Gorilla Glue is a great product. It works on about any kind of material. The only problem with Gorilla Glue is that you typically only get one use out of a bottle. Why? Because there really is no good way to seal the applicator tip once you cut it open. To avoid this, unscrew the cap and leave the applicator tip alone. Use a small, cheap painters brush to apply the glue. It's also a good idea to buy the smallest bottle of Gorilla Glue you can find. (Contributed by Tracy Tesmer).
