Let’s check your ready position:
You’re squared off, facing the on-coming shot.
Your weight is forward, mostly on the balls of your feet.
You’ve got your forehand grip.
You’ve got a loose, finger grip that can be changed quickily and easily to your backhand grip if need be.
Your full attention is on the on-coming ball. You see it come off the opponent’s racquet and you attempt to see it come off your strings.
Your back is straight, not humped. This is important for optimum balance and a quick starat toward the ball.
You’ve got a low center of gravity; your knees are flexed for a push-off to the right of left.
Your excellent preparation sets the stage for each and every shot you hit. Don’t skimp on your ready position; it precludes all of your strokes.
