Willie Cabrera lifted the Gwinnett Braves to a walk-off, 5-4 win on Sunday when he drove home Jordan Schaefer with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 11th inning in Lawrenceville.
The G-Braves (2-2) trailed 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning before second baseman Daniel Nelson evened the score with a home run, Gwinnett’s first of the season.
Five players had multi-hit games for the G-Braves including Jose Costanza (2 for 4, SB); Diory Hernandez (2 for 5, 2B); Mauro Gomez (2 for 5, 2B); Joe Mather (2 for 5, RBI) and Matt Kennelly (2 for 4, 2B, RBI).
Scott Proctor worked a perfect 11th, striking out two to earn the win. Starter Jacob Thompson yielded two earned runs on six hits in four innings on the mound.
Gwinnett begins a three-game series against the Norfolk Tides at 7:05 tonight. Jair Jurrjens, on rehab assignment from Atlanta, is slated to make the start.
