For the second night in a row, the Gwinnett Braves went ahead early only to blow the lead late on a bases-loaded walk against the Charlotte Knights, who held on to a 4-3 win Friday at Knights Stadium in Fort Mill, S.C.
Gwinnett starter Scott Diamond went 6 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on three hits, but his effort was wasted when Mike Dunn walked in the game-winning run.
Freddie Freeman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while second baseman Joe Thurston went 2-for-4 for the second night in a row and also notched an RBI for Gwinnett.
Gwinnett continues its short, four-game road trip with Game 3 at 7:15 tonight against Charlotte at Knights Stadium. The G-Braves will send LHP Jose Ortegano (3-8, 5.96 ERA) to the mound against Charlotte RHP Freddy Dolsi (2-6, 5.02 ERA).
