It’s do or die time in the Giants-Braves series today in Atlanta. If the Giants win, they advance to the NLCS. The Braves are set to send out Derek Lowe, while the Giants will send out rookie Madison Bumgarner.

If the Giants don’t win today, the two will travel to San Francisco for a Game 5 where Tim Lincecum will likely take the mound for San Francisco.

In the series opener, Lincecum hurled a two-hit shutout and struckout 14 in a 1-0 win.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Games involving Hall County schools include Franklin County at Chestatee, East Hall at Fannin County, Heritage-Conyers at Flowery Branch, Gainesville at Monroe Area, Johnson at Walnut Grove, Lakeview at North Cobb Christian, Lumpkin County at North Hall, Athens Christian at Riverside Military and Oconee County at West Hall.

ATLANTA FALCONS: The Falcons travel to Lincoln Financial Field to take on the Philadelphia Eagles for a Sunday 1 p.m. game. The big question on everyone’s mind will be whether Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will be available to play against his old team?

Vick sat out Sunday’s game against the 49ers with a rib injury suffered the previous week against Washington.

If Vick is unable to go, Kevin Kolb will start for the second week in a row.

ATLANTA THRASHERS: The Thrashers will look to get off to a fast start with the season barely underway despite suffering a scare in the season opener when starting goalie Ondrej Pavelec collapsing on ice during live action in the season opener Friday. He’ll undergo tests to determine the cause of his collapse and the status of his help.

In the meantime, the Thrashers play three games on the west coast against Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, the Anaheim Ducks on Friday and the San Jose Sharks on Saturday.

GEORGIA: After winning their first SEC game of the season against Tennessee, the Bulldogs will look for another league win against Vanderbilt.

Kickoff is slated for 12:21 p.m. at Sanford Stadium in Athens.

GEORGIA TECH: The Yellow Jackets, who beat Virginia last week, will take a break from ACC play to take on Middle Tennessee State.

Kick off is set for 3:30 p.m. at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.
