Local golf: Two best ball match held in Gainesville

The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played a two best ball, aggregated net strokes game on Thursday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville.

First place went to the team of Eddie Johnson, Wayne Nelson, Bob Allen and Joe Kolesar.

Second place went to the team of Carlyle Cox, Jerry Ermlich, Bob Watson and Larry Cohan won second place honors.

Third place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Rob Boetz, Roy Lyle and Ed Pledger.

Closest to the pin winners were No. 3 Larry Smith, No. 5 Dick Bachman, No. 12 Johnny Little and No. 17 Larry Smith.

LUNA’S TUESDAY GOLF GROUP: The Luna’s Tuesday golf group played this week at Hammers Glen in Homer.

Tied for first place were the teams of Rob Emerson, Richard Strickland, Cleve Brown, and Doug Van and the team of Gene Weschler, Frank House, Tommy Lowery, and Don Rogers.

Third place went to the team of Michael Gordy, Jack Barrett, Johnny Nix, and Jerry Johns.

Closest to the pin winners were Tom Sexton No. 2, Don Smallwood No. 6 and Nix No. 13 and 17.

WEDNESDAY DOGFIGHT: A Wednesday Dogfight was held at Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville this week.

First place went to the team of Tommy Calhoun, Gayle Gibson, Terry Clegg and Frank Bambarger.

The team of Brain Coley, Geoff Archibald, Chris Porter and Scott Westermyer took second place honors.

Clegg also won first place in the individual competition followed by Gibson in second.

Tied for third place were Coley, Mark Black and John Willis.

The closest to pin winners were Gibson and Bambarger.

DPG GOLF GROUP: The DPG golf group played on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the at Chicopee Woods golf course in Gainesville.

Terrence Dale took top honors with a +7 score on Wednesday in an individual match.

The team of Jerry Shell and Dale won first in team competition, and Dwight Miller and Steve Knowles took second place.

Shell had a score of +3 to place first in individual play on Thursday.

Horace Smallwood had a score of +9 to win on Friday, and Don Schrum and Knowles tied for second place with a score of +2.
