LCKC paddlers advance to next stage of Olympic qualifiers

Tim Hornsby, a paddler representing Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club placed first in the Men’s Senior K4 1000-meter race Sunday in Oklahoma City and earned a spot in the Pan American Championships from May 15-18 in Montreal. A win there will qualify Hornsby for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Hornsby will also have a chance to qualify for the Olympics in the Senior Men’s K2 500-meter event.

With his win in the K1 500-meter race, fellow paddler from LCKC Morgan House has earned a spot in June’s World Cup in Hungary. Katie Hagler and Emily Mickle also have a chance of qualifying for the Olympics, as the two will compete in the Women’s K4 500-meter race in the upcoming Continental Qualifer.
