A back-and-forth game was settled with a 9-0 third quarter-ending run by the Trojans in their 66-57 win over East Hall on Monday night the Region 7-AAA semifinals at Flowery Branch High.
With the win, the Trojans (24-3) move into the region finals where they play West Hall. They also earned the right to play host to the first round of the state tournament.
East Hall held a 43-38 lead late in the third quarter thanks to a 13-4 run capped by a Greg Edwards 3-pointer.
North Hall tied it at 43 on a Kanlor Coker 3-pointer and went onto score six more unanswered, sparked by an intentional foul by the Vikings on a layup attempt by Robbie Hill.
Hill hit his two free throw attempts and Coker hit a layup on the ensuing possession. Lance White finished the quarter and the 9-0 run with a buzzer-beating runner that gave the Trojans a six-point lead that stood throughout the fourth quarter.
Chris Barnes led all scorers with 19 points including five 3-pointers, four in the first half.
Coker finished with 16 points for the Trojans.
East Hall (18-9), which will play Johnson at 5:30 tonight in the tournament’s third-place game, was led by Charles Perry with 13 points and five rebounds, and J.C. Hampton with 10 points.
