Softball: Chestatee looking for new coach

Chestatee High School is searching for a new coach, the school announced Monday, after principal Bill Thompson relieved Tim Garner of his softball coaching duties.
Garner will remain at the school where he also teaches special education and serves as the War Eagles wrestling coach.

“I gave it some thought and decided to replace Mr. Garner as the softball coach,” Thompson said. “It’s awfully hard for one coach to go back-to-back seasons the way softball and wrestling do, but we certainly appreciate all the hard work Mr. Garner put in.”

Thompson added that the school has already begun its search for a new softball coach and has conducted one interview so far.

“And we’re expecting to have quite a few more in the near future,” Thompson said.

The Lady War Eagles finished with a record of 2-26 this fall following a 7-18 campaign in 2006.
