The Buford High softball team defeated Hillgrove 5-0 at the Cobb/Gwinnett Challenge on Wednesday in Powder Springs.
Melissa Dickie picked up her fifth win of the season for the Lady Wolves (13-2, 5-1 Region 6-AA) with seven strikeouts. Alysha Rudnik led Buford at the plate with two hits, two RBIs and two runs. White Whitney Holman was 1-for-3 with an RBI, Chelsie Thomas was 1-for-3 with two runs and Whitey Wolfe was 1-for-3 with one run. Buford visits Greater Atlanta Christian at 5 p.m. today.

Morgan Strickland pitched a one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts for the Lady Spartans on Wednesday in Gainesville. Bailey Soucie led West Hall (12-5, 6-0 Region 7-AAA) with a two-run triple in the sixth inning.
West Hall visits White County at 5:55 today.
Habersham Central splits meet at Mill Creek (Wednesday)
The Lady Raiders split a tri-meet at Mill Creek with a win against Cedar Shoals (25-19, 17-25, 25-19) and a loss to Mill Creek (25-21, 25-19) on Wednesday in Hoschton.
Jaclyn Campbell led Habersham Central (14-2, 3-1 Area 8-AAAA) with 15 kills and once ace. Julia Heimburger finished the night with 11 kills and two blocks and Megan Rowland added 10 kills.
Habersham Central plays host to Rabun Gap and Loganville at 5 p.m. today.
