Prep scoreboard: Lady Warriors win in walk-off

The White County High softball team scored a walk-off run in the 7th inning to defeat North Hall 1-0 on Thursday night in Cleveland.

After Morgan Jacobsen hit a sacrifice bunt to move runners into scoring position, Emma Cummings hit an RBI single to win the game for the Lady Warriors (8-4, 3-2 Region 7-AAA).

Stephanie Satterfield picked up the win for White County with seven strikeouts.

Megan Rogers took the loss for the Lady Trojans (6-3, 4-2 Region 7-AAA) despite striking out 10. Chelsea Clever was 2-for-3 and Kelsey Gibbs, Anna Bower and Brittany Smith each had a hit for North Hall.

White County visits Johnson at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday. North Hall plays Shaw at 6 tonight and Madison County at 8 tonight in the Shaw Invitational in Columbus

West Hall 3, Flowery Branch 0

Bailey Soucie was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs and Miranda Miller tripled for the Lady Spartans on Thursday in Flowery Branch.

Emily Hammond struck out eight and allowed four hits to earn the win for West Hall (9-1, 4-0 Region 7-AAA), who is still undefeated in region play.

West Hall plays Adairsville at 6:30 tonight and Heritage (Coosa) at 8 tonight in the Adairsville Tiger Tournament.

VOLLEYBALL

Johnson picks up two on the road

The Lady Knights added two road wins against Clarke Central (25-16, 25-14) and Loganville (25-16, 25-13) on Thursday in Athens.

Shelly Farley had 11 assists, three kills and three aces on the night for Johnson (5-3). Jordan Gustavel had four kills, six digs and three aces and Laura Gazaway had 12 digs for the Lady Knights.

Johnson visits Gainesville at 6 p.m. Tuesday for its first region matches against Gainesville and West Forsyth.

Gainesville drops two at Madison County

The Lady Red Elephants dropped two matches against Madison County (25-16, 25-17) and Rockdale County (25-11, 25-22) on Thursday in Danielsville.

Taylor Ricketts had 13 kills, 11 digs, two aces and five assists on the night for Gainesville (2-8). Kiki Thompson had three kills, six assists, five digs and one ace for the Lady Red Elephants. Loren Thomas added five assists against Madison County.

Gainesville opens region play at 5 p.m. Tuesday when it plays host to West Forsyth and Johnson.

Chestatee sweeps at home

The Lady War Eagles won both matches against Eastside (25-22, 25-18) and Pickens (25-10, 25-17) on Thursday at Chestatee High.

Alura Roe had three kills and two blocks, Madisen Yates had two kills and three blocks and Jessica Porter had six digs for Chestatee against Eastside.

In the Lady War Eagles win against Pickens, Ali Burnette had two kills and three digs, Charlotte Hill had two aces and four assists and Elivra Perez had two aces and two digs.

Chestatee will participate in the Tiger Tournament at Darlington High in Rome on Saturday.

West Hall unbeatable at home

The Lady Spartans picked up two wins against Buford (25-21, 26-24) and Jefferson (25-15, 25-17) on Thursday in Oakwood.

Abagail Grindle led West Hall (4-8) with 14 kills and 14 digs on the night. Erica Grainger had five kills and 14 assists and Sadie Cornett had 17 assists.

Jessica Hollis led the Lady Spartans on defense with 21 digs.

West Hall plays five matches Saturday at Alcovy High in Covington. Buford plays host to Dacula and Lakeview Academy at 5 p.m. Tuesday and Jefferson plays host to Athens Academy and East Jackson at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
