Prep scoreboard: Johnson boys golf wins tri-match

Grant Cagle shot a 37 for the Knights (164) in their golf tri-match win over West Hall (176) and Chestatee (183) on Monday at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Oakwood.

The Knights also had scores from Michael Dunham (41), Kevin Bohn (42) and Josh Foster (44).

The Spartans’ Will England was the low medalist of the match, shooting a 34.

Jamison Foote led the War Eagles with a 39.

Johnson returns to Royal Lakes for a match against Gainesville at 3:30 p.m. today.

Lumpkin County 156, Union County 164, Dawson County 170

Aaron George was low medalist of the match, shooting a 34 for the Lumpkin County (3-1) in their win over Dawson County and Union County on Monday at Gold Creek Golf Course in Dawsonville.

Everett Huntsinger shot a 36 for the Indians, the second-lowest tally of the day.

Michael Aiken led the Panthers with a 39.

Matt Christopher carded the lowest score for the Tigers with a 38.

Lumpkin County travels to Chestatee Golf Course for a match against North Hall at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

TENNIS

Westminster Christian girls 3, Killian Hill 2
Mady Lu West, Jordan Wiley and Dawn Evon each won singles matches for the Wildcats in their win over Killian on Monday.

Killian Hill boys 3, Westminster Christian 2
Jake McCardel was the lone singles match winner for the Wildcats in their loss to Killian Hill on Monday.

The team of Drew Jones and Andrew Farmer was Westminster’s lone win in doubles matches.

BASEBALL

Johnson 12, East Jackson 11 (Saturday)
The Knights (3-0) remained unbeaten with a win over East Jackson on Saturday in a game that featured a total of 24 hits and 23 runs.

Despite leading 6-3 at the end of the third inning, Johnson had to regain their lead after the Eagles scored eight runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Knights scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game, then scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Will Rowlett led the Knights at the plate with three hits. Michael Lorentz, David Jones and Logan Pehtel each had two hits. Nick Denard was the winning pitcher with Rowlett earning the save.

John Robinson led East Jackson at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three walks.

Johnson travels to Franklin County at 6 p.m. Thursday.
