Prep scoreboard: Jefferson stays perfect in 8-A

Cameron Blinn struck out seven hitters and allowed only two hits in five innings pitched for the Jefferson High baseball team in its 11-1 win against Hebron Christian on Tuesday night in Dacula.

Blaine Skaggs led Jefferson (5-3, 4-0 Region 8-A) at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Chase Harris and Kyle Hardy each had two RBIs for the Dragons.

Jefferson plays host to Lakeview Academy at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The winner will take sole possession of first place in region 8-A.

Gainesville boys 1, East Hall 0

Oscar Angles scored in overtime for the Red Elephants in their win against East Hall (9-4, 4-3 Region 7-AAA) in Gainesville.

Philip Gaines recorded the shutout in goal for Gainesville (5-6-1, 4-3).

Gainesville plays host to Johnson at 7:30 p.m. Friday. East Hall plays host to Flowery Branch at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Chestatee boys 5, White County 0

Kevin Stradley scored two goals and Clemente Medina had a goal and an assist for the War Eagles in their win against White County (3-10, 0-8 Region 7-AAA) on Tuesday night in Gainesville.

Alejandro Gonzalez and Christian Lozano also scored goals for Chestatee (5-5, 3-2). Tyler Esson and Joaquin Maldonado combined in goal for the shutout.

Chestatee plays host to North Hall at 7:30 p.m. Friday. White County plays host to Banks County at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Lindsey Sapp, Morgan Dooley and Abi Mills each scored for the Lady War Eagles in their win against White County (3-8, 2-6 Region 7-AAA) on Tuesday night in Gainesville.

Megan Fligg had two assists while Sarah Brothers recorded the shutout in goal for Chestatee (6-6, 3-1).

Chestatee plays host to East Hall at 7 p.m. Thursday. White County plays host to Banks County at 5 p.m. Thursday.

North Hall boys 5, West Forsyth 0

Andrew Beck and Alex Castrejon each scored two goals and Tony Gonzalez scored one for the Trojans on Tuesday night in Gainesville.

Daniel Powers recorded the shutout in goal for North Hall (7-3-1, 4-2 Region 7-AAA).

North Hall plays host to West Hall at 7:30 p.m. today.

Lakeview girls 2, East Jackson 1

The Lady Lions defeated East Jackson in penalty kicks on Tuesday night in Commerce.

Down by one goal, Chelsea Waddell scored the tying goal for Lakeview, forcing overtime.

After two scoreless overtime periods, Mary London Carswell scored the game winning goal in penalty kicks for the Lions.

Ivy Godfrey recorded nine saves in goal for Lakeview.

Lakeview plays host to Pickens at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Lakeview boys 2, East Jackson 1

Josh Wilkins and Austin White each scored for the Lions in their win against East Jackson on Tuesday in Commerce.

Lakeview (1-7, 1-4 Region 8-A) play host to Pickens at 5 p.m. Thursday.

North Hall girls 3, Gilmer 2

Class AAA’s third-ranked North Hall girls tennis team remained undefeated on the season with a win over No. 8 ranked Gilmer on Tuesday in Gainesville.

The Lady Trojans (13-0, 9-0 Region 7-AAA) swept Gilmer in doubles with wins from the teams of Lauren Bolton/Courtney Wiley and Rachel Langman/Jessica Butts.

Hayley Crowder was the lone singles winner for North Hall.

North Hall visits Chestatee at 4 p.m. Thursday.

North Hall boys 5, Gilmer 0

Eli LoCicero, Clayton Nedza and Mitch McCray each won singles matches for the Trojans in their win over Gilmer on Tuesday in Gainesville.

North Hall (8-4, 8-1 Region 7-AAA) completed sweep in doubles with wins from the teams of Jim Butts/Joe Nedza and Michael Franze/Scott Swanson.

North Hall concludes subregion play at 4 p.m. Thursday at Chestatee.

Flowery Branch girls 3, Johnson 2

Jennica Ramey and Megan Grewett each won singles matches for the Falcons, while the team of Ane Hoff Magnussoen and Paulette Matute won in doubles for the Flowery Branch.

Cady Nix was the lone singles winner for the Knights. The team of Stephanie Hulsey and Camy Fields won in doubles for Johnson.

Flowery Branch plays host to Gainesville at 4 p.m. Thursday. Johnson visits West Hall at 4 p.m. Thursday.

West Hall boys 4, Pickens 1

Alan Clark and Luis Flores each won singles matches in straight sets for the Spartans in their win against Pickens on Tuesday in Jasper.

In doubles, the teams of Derek Weatherly/Jimmy Kincaid and Kyle Weatherly/Ricky Vital each won for West Hall (9-2, Region 7-AAA), also in straight sets.

The Spartans didn’t lose any games in each of their wins.

West Hall visits Johnson at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Gainesville girls 95, Johnson 116

Hall County champion Kamryn Cole led the Lady Red Elephants with a 40 on Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Flowery Branch.

Candace Parsons led the Lady Knights with a 54.

Gainesville visits Hooch Golf Club in Duluth at 3:20 p.m. Monday for a par-3 tournament.

West Hall boys 160, Chestatee 177

Will England shot a 36 and Austin Lanier shot a 39 for the Spartans in their win against Chestatee on Tuesday at Chattahoochee Golf Course in Gainesville.

Jameson Foote led the War Eagles with a 37.

West Hall visits Chestatee Golf Course at 3:45 p.m. Thursday against North Hall.

West Hall girls 102, Habersham Central 121

Savannah Rowe and Natalie Mathias each shot a 51 for the Lady Spartans in their win against Habersham Central on Tuesday at Apple Mountain Golf Course in Clarkesville.

Taylor Peeples led the Lady Raiders with a 56.

West Hall visits Chestatee Golf Course in Dawsonville at 3:30 p.m. Thursday against North Hall.

Dawson County girls 82, Rabun County 97, Forsyth Central 114

Kasay Holbrook shot a season-low 37 and Charley Whitmire shot a career-low 45 for the Lady Tigers in their win against Rabun County and Forsyth Central at Gold Creek Golf Course in Dawsonville.

Jessica Arthur led Rabun County with a 45.

Dawson County visits Peachtree Golf Center on Monday for the St. Pius Par 3 Tournament.

Rabun County 161, Forsyth Central 170, Dawson County 174

Matt Christopher led the Tigers with a 39 while Nick Fitt shot a 41 for Dawson County on Tuesday at Gold Creek Golf Course in Dawsonville.

Dawson County returns to Gold Creek next Tuesday against Buford and Fannin County.

TRACK AND FIELD

Gainesville boys 72, Habersham Central 52

Gerald Ford led the Red Elephants in field events, winning the long jump with a distance of 20-feet one-inch and the triple jump with a distance of 40-3.

On the track, Gainesville’s Tyler Adetona won the 100-meter in 11 minutes, 1 second and the 200-meter in 23.02 seconds. Aurelio Montana won the one-mile in 5:03 and the two-mile in 11:30. Paul Malquist finished first the 800-meter with a time of 2:13, Xavier Irvin won the 300 hurdles in 44.8 seconds and D.J. Allen won the 400 in 54.3 seconds.

The Red Elephants’ 4x100 relay team of Adetona, Ervin, Sam Wright and Teryan Rucker also finished first with a time of 43.8 seconds. Gainesville’s 4x100 team won as well.

Gainesville will participate in the War Eagle Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Gainesville girls 87, Habersham Central 50

The Lady Red Elephants had five different participants with two indvidual wins, including Kiki Thompson (long jump, 100-meter), Dominique Woods (triple jump, 400), Cait Ludwig (200, 110 hurdles), and Haley Solomon (shot put, discus). Hunter Lane also finished first in the 800-meter.

Gainesville’s 4x100 team of Thompson, Ludwig, Woods and Tasha Turner and 4x400 team of Turner, Woods, Somer Graham and Sha’Dora Godwin also won.

Gainesville will participate in the War Eagle Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday.
