Prep scoreboard: Gainesville girls place first at Chestatee Invitational

Kiki Thompson won the long jump and Somer Graham won the pole vault for the Gainesville High girls track and field team as part of a first place finish in the Chestatee Invitational on Saturday.

Tasha Turner, Dominique Woods, Caitlyn Ludwig and Thompson won the 4 x 100 relay for the Lady Red Elephants. Turner, Sha’Doris Godwin, Graham and Woods picked up the win for Gainesville in the 4 x 400 relay.

Soccer

North Hall girls 3, East Hall 0

Only three players and an assistant coach showed up for East Hall, giving North Hall a victory by forfeit on Saturday.

Mary Mancin scored the procedural goal to complete the forfeit. Per GHSA regulations, a forfeit is counted as a 3-0 victory.

No. 7 ranked North Hall (10-0-1, 8-0 Area 7-AAA) plays host to Walker at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Apalachee boys 2, West Hall 0

Apalachee High shut-out last-year's tournament champion West Hallto win the 2008 NEGA Mountain Cup. 

In the 3rd-place match, Johnson High defeated Buford, 2-0, and in the Consolation match, Chestatee High won over Winder-Barrow, 6-0.
