Prep scoreboard: Cagle leads Knights at Royal Lakes

Johnson High senior Grant Cagle shot a 3-under par, 33 in the Knights’ (153) win against Pickens (219) on Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Flowery Branch.

Clint Reeves shot a 38 while Kevin Bohn and Ben Brisbois each shot a 41 for Johnson (8-1).

The Knights play Lumpkin County at 4 p.m. Thursday at Achasta Golf Course in Dahlonega.

White County girls 105, West Hall 115

Chelsea Ash shot a 52 and Sarah Holmes shot a 53 for the Lady Warriors in their win against West Hall on Tuesday at Royal Lakes Golf Course in Flowery Branch.

White County (9-1, 7-0 Region 7-AAA) play Hart County at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Cateechee Golf Course in Hartwell.

BASEBALL

Lakeview Academy 8, Hebron Christian 1

Ralston Cash pitched a complete game for Lakeview (4-4, 2-0 Region 8-A) with seven strikeouts and allowed only three hits on Tuesday night in Dacula. He also went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

Matt Reynolds went 3-for-4 with a triple and Ross Biegler went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Lions.

Lakeview travels to Banks County at 5 p.m. Friday.

SOCCER

Gainesville boys 7, Gilmer 0

Caleb Turner scored three goals and had two assists for the Red Elephants in their win against Gilmer on Tuesday night at City Park in Gainesville.

Jorge Rocha, Jesus Flores, Monish Lahiry and Irving Salgado each scored one goal each for Gainesville (3-6-1, 2-3 Region 7-AAA).

Gainesville plays host to Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Gainesville girls 14, Gilmer 0

Drew Blakley-Whitmire led Gainesville with four goals and an assist. Raquel Castillo and Kelly Mettick each scored two goals and Laura Demby scored one goal and had three assists for the Lady Red Elephants (7-3, 4-1 Region 7-AAA).

Claire Cannapell, Maggie Norton, Alex Hayes, Gisselle Lopez and Hong Tran each scored one goal for the Lady Red Elephants.

The Lady Red Elephants play host to Chestatee at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

West Hall boys 3, West Forsyth 0

Juan Arbelaez scored two goals and had one assist for the Spartans in their win against West Forsyth on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Rudy Vazquez scored a goal and with an assist for West Hall (5-3-2, 2-2 Region 7-AAA). Jamie King recorded his third shutout of the season in goal for the Spartans.

West Hall plays host to Johnson at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Johnson girls 4, East Hall 1

Amanda Whittmer scored two goals for the Lady Knights in their win against East Hall on Tuesday night in Oakwood.

Kayla Madsen and Kayleigh Durden also contributed for Johnson (6-3, 5-1 Region 7-AAA), with one goal each.

Johnson travels to West Hall at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The Vikings (0-5, 0-3 Region 7-AAA) travel to West Hall at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Flowery Branch girls 4, White County 0

Storm Williams led the Lady Falcons with three goals in their win against White County on Tuesday night in Cleveland.

Delana Thomas also scored for Flowery Branch (7-4, 4-1 Region 7-AAA) while Torey McDowell made seven saves in goal to record the shutout.

The Lady Falcons travel to West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The Warriors (3-7. 2-5 Region 7-AAA) travel to Chestatee at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

TENNIS

North Hall girls 5, East Hall 0


Class AAA’s No. 5 ranked Lady Trojans remained undefeated with a shutout win against East Hall on Tuesday in Gainesville.

Cara Reece, Hayley Crowder and Lauren Hodges each won singles matches in straight sets for North Hall (11-0, 8-0 Region 7-AAA). The three combined to lose only two games.

In doubles, the teams of Lauren Bolton/Courtney Wiley and Rachel Langman/Jessica Butts each won for the Lady Trojans, completing the sweep.

North Hall travels to White County at 4 p.m. Thursday.

North Hall boys 5, East Hall 0

Eli LoCicero, Clayton Nedza and Mitch McCray each won singles matches in straight sets for the Trojans in their shutout win against East Hall on Tuesday in Gainesville.

North Hall (6-3, 6-1 Region 7-AAA) completed the sweep in doubles with wins from Jim Butts/Jack Hortenstine and Mikey Franze/Scott Swanson.

The Trojans travel to White County at 4 p.m. Thursday.

West Hall boys 5, Flowery Branch 0

Luis Flores, Chris Evans and Alan Clark each won singles matches for the Spartans in their win against Flowery Branch on Tuesday night at the Bobby Bailey Tennis Center in Oakwood.

In doubles, the teams of Derek Weatherly/Ricky Vital and Kyle Weatherly/Jimmy Kincaid each won to complete the shutout for West Hall (7-2, 5-2 Region 7-AAA).

The Spartans play host to St. Francis at 4 p.m. today.

West Hall girls 3, Flowery Branch 2

The Lady Spartans were down by two matches before singles winner Chelsea Britt and the doubles teams Alex Wright/Samantha Lingle and Kayla Cansler/Ellie Smith each won to defeat Flowery Branch on Tuesday night in Flowery Branch.

Jennica Ramey and Megan Grewett each won singles matches for the Falcons.

The Spartans (7-2) play host to St. Francis at 4 p.m. today.

TRACK AND FIELD

North Hall girls 85, Buford 33, East Hall 25

Katie Spell won the discus (87-feet, 9-inches), Kelli Moore won the long jump (13-9 1/2), Brandi Dyer won the high jump (4-4) and Sarah Nish won the triple jump (30-4 3/4) for the Lady Trojans on Tuesday night.

Patrice Sweet won the 3200-meter (12 minutes, 19 seconds), Taylor Bishop won the 300 and Megan Van Gorder won the 1600 and 800 for North Hall. Sweet placed second in the 1600, Sallie Davis finished second in the 400, Bishop took second in the 100 and Connie Steinmann placed second in the 800 finished second for North Hall.

The Trojans play host to Flowery Branch at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Long, Clark lead Trojans to win

In the boys' events, Nick Long won the 800 (2:05) for the Trojans in their win over Buford and East Hall on Tuesday in Gainesville.

North Hall also had wins in the running events from Nolan Clark in the 3200 (10:14), 1600 (4:49) and the 4 x 400-meter team.

In field events, North Hall had first place finishes from Cody Campbell in the long jump (18- 9 3/4) and Bryant Parks in the discus (111-7).

The Trojans play host to Flowery Branch at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
