Davenport breaks record

North Hall senior Letiecia Davenport scored 17 points Friday to break the all-time Lady Trojans’ scoring record with 1,528 points in her career en route to a 69-31 win over Oglethorpe County on Friday in the Warrior Holiday Tournament at Oconee County High. Davenport broke the previous record of 1,509 points held by 2004 graduate Megan Westmoreland.

North Hall’s (8-2) Ana Porras finished with 11 points, while Elizabeth Williams and Mallory Rich each scored 10.

The Lady Trojans play the East Jackson/Towers winner at 12:30 p.m. today.

North Hall boys 66, Jefferson 55

Led by Brannon Nix’s 27 points, which included six 3-pointers, the Trojans made it into tonight’s championship game of the Warrior Holiday Tournament at Oconee County High. North Hall trailed by four at the end of the first period but scored 46 points in the second and third quarters combined to get the win.

Ethan Satterfield, Chase Syfan and Andrew Peck added nine a piece for the Trojans who will face the winner of the Oconee County/North Oconee matchup tonight at 8:30 for the tournament title.

Darius Minor and Ronnie Lewis led Jefferson with 12 points each.

Chestatee boys 63, Salem High (Virginia Beach, Va.) 60

The Chestatee High basketball team squeezed past Salem High of Virginia Beach, Va. with a win in the Sunshine Classic Basketball Tournament on Friday in Daytona Beach, Fla.

With the win, the War Eagles (9-2) will play in the championship game of the tournament against Bryan Station from Lexington, Ky. at 6 p.m. today.

Tennessee State signee Parker Smith hit three 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 30 points. Branden Jovaag scored 20 points, as the two combined for 23 third-quarter points.

Buford girls 56, Jackson County 27

Blanche Alverson led 10 Buford scorers with 16 points, and added seven rebounds and five steals in the Lady Wolves (6-1, 4-0) win Friday night in the Mountain Dew Jingle Jam at Jackson County High.

Buford forced 37 turnovers during the course of the game and held Jackson County scoreless in the first quarter.

Buford next plays at 6 tonight against Hebron.

Buford boys 62, Jackson County 37

The Wolves outscored Jackson County 37-11 in the second half to get a win Friday night in the Mountain Dew Jingle Jam at Oconee County High School.

Jeramie Moore led Buford (3-4, 1-3) with 17 points, 12 in the fourth quarter, and Twoey Hosch added 11.

The Wolves return to action at 7:30 tonight when they play Apalachee.
