Jefferson cruised through the first round of the Class A state playoffs with 10-0 and 18-0 wins against Trion on Friday night in Jefferson.
With the win, the third-ranked Dragons (20-4) advance to face the Georgia Military/Eagles Landing Christian Academy winner in a best-of-three second round series starting Thursday night in Jefferson.
Chris Beck pitched a perfect Game 2 for the Dragons facing the minimum of nine batters in the mercy-rule shortened game. He stands at 8-0 this season with a 1.51 ERA.
Jake Field was a 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and four RBIs in Game 2 to complete the sweep. Kyle Hardy added a three-run home run for Jefferson in his only plate appearance.
Blaine Skaggs and Tyler Hill each finished with two hits in the second game for the Dragons.
Anthony Dowker added two hits in Game 2 for the Dragons.
In Game 1, Cameron Blinn (6-0) earned the win with six strikeouts and only allowed two hits.
Skaggs’ three-run home run led the Dragons offensively in Game 1. Lucas Redd (3-for-3, three runs) and Beck each added a solo home run for Jefferson.
Trion’s season is now complete.
