The Buford softball team clinched a spot in the state championship with a 1-0 win over Calhoun on Friday night in Columbus.
Melissa Dickie picked up the win for the Lady Wolves (33-2-1) as she pitched nine shutout innings, giving up three hits and striking out 13 batters.
Chelsie Thomas had two hits for Buford, and Kallie Case added a triple. Lexi Overstreet had one hit in the game and batted in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth.
Buford will play for the state championship at 12:15 today against the winner of Calhoun and Southeast Bulloch.
