Riverside Military Academy announced Friday that Mike Hutch has been named the school's new baseball coach. Previously, Hutch served for 11 seasons as both baseball and softball coach at Athens Christian.

This year, he was named Coach of the Year for Region 8-A.

"I am excited about the future of the Riverside Military Eagles baseball program," Hutch said. "Our student athletes are academically on solid ground."

Hutch played college baseball at Florida International University in Miami. He has 21 years of head coaching experience, which includes both high school and college levels, and more than 400 career wins.

He was also a major league scout for the Seattle Mariners organization.
