High school scoreboard: White County rallies past Lumpkin County

The White County High baseball team scored seven runs in the final two innings to upset 10th-ranked Lumpkin County 13-8 on Wednesday in Dahlonega.

Luke Crumley pitched the last three innings and struck out six to earn the win for White County (14-11, 12-11 Region 7-AAA). He was also 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Kevin Frederick was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored for the Warriors. Hayden Cummins was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, Kyle Mills was 3-for-4, David Sosebee was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Zach Messmore added two hits for White County, which had 18 total hits on the night.

Jonathan Whitehead was the leading hitter for the Indians (20-5, 18-5), going 2-for-3 with a home run.

White County visits East Hall at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Lumpkin County can clinch the No. 2 spot in the region and home field advantage in the playoffs with a win at North Hall at 7 p.m. Friday.

North Hall 14, East Hall 6

The Trojans scattered their runs across six innings for their fifth straight win Wednesday at East Hall Park.

Chris Stevens and Jackson Coker each went 2-for-3 with two runs for North Hall (15-10, 15-8 Region 7-AAA). Nate Strong had two hits and three runs, Trey Pinson tripled with three RBIs and Graham Duncan added another triple for the Trojans.

North Hall’s Nathan Hewell struck out three and allowed three hits in five innings pitched for the win.

North Hall plays host to Lumpkin County at 7 p.m. Friday. East Hall (8-17, 7-16) plays host to White County at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
