Jackson County sophomore Kortnee Satterfield allowed only three hits and led Class AA’s No. 10 Jackson County to a 2-1 win against Jefferson on Thursday in Jefferson.
Sophomore Kortnee Satterfield earned the win, giving up three hits and striking out two for the Lady Panthers.
Alyssa Dasher and Madison Whitmire each scored a run and Mason Garland had an RBI for Jackson County (9-3, 5-1 Region 8-AA).
Jordyn Whitfield hit a home run for the Lady Dragons.
Jefferson (7-12, 5-2) plays Habersham Central at 6 p.m. and Union County at 7 p.m. today in the Buford Invitational.
WEST HALL SHUTS DOWN JOHNSON: Miranda Hall earned the win in the pitching circle, threw six strikeouts and had two hits for the Lady Spartans softball team as they beat Johnson 8-0 in five innings.
Beth Hildebrandt also contributed two hits for West Hall.
The Lady Spartans’ Savannah Simpson knocked in two West Hall runs in the win.
West Hall (9-10, 3-4 Region 8-AAA) travels to Stephens County to play at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday.
Volleyball
LADY CHARGERS SWEEP ANOTHER: The North Georgia Christian swept Grace Christian Academy 25-4, 25-7, and 25-9 on Thursday.
The Lady Chargers (5-1) will take on Heritage Academy on Monday 9-12 at 6.
JEFFERSON WINS TRI-MATCH: Amanda Daniel had four aces, three kills, 34 assists and one block to lead the Lady Dragons in wins over West Hall 25-3, 25-19 and East Hall 25-12, 25-21.
Jefferson’s Taylor Cramsey added six aces, 16 kills and three blocks.
Stephanie Rowland totaled seven kills, two blocks and six aces as the Lady Spartans beat East Hall 25-16, 26-14.
LaNiesha Kearse and Tonya Bennett each had seven kills and seven blocks for West Hall to go along with Kelsey Jones’ five kills and four blocks.
East Hall’s Brittney Cambell had three kills, 12 assists and one dig, while Kara Hix earned three aces, four kills two digs and one assist.
Jefferson (9-2, 2-0 8-AA) will play Kell and Lambert on Saturday in morning pool play at the Georgia Challenge in Marietta.
The Lady Spartans (13-2, 3-1 Region 8-AAA) play Jackson County, Hart County and Tallulah Falls at the East Hall Spikefest at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
FLOWERY BRANCH WINS REGION MATCH: Kenzie Grewett had 17 assists and 12 kills in a region win against Habersham Central in three games 25-15, 19-25, 25-16.
Colleen Grider and Amber Merchant had nine kills each for the Lady Falcons.
Flowery Branch (5-11. 4-2 Region 8-AAAA) plays in the East Hall Spikefest at 9 p.m. on Saturday against Johnson.
GAINESVILLE TAKES TRI-MATCH: The Lady Red Elephants’ first win was against Lanier 25-11, 25-15 and Kaylin Walden had 15 assists and six aces. Anna added six aces and 11 kills.
In their second match Gainesville beat Meadowcreek 25-14, 25-11.
Leading the Lady Red Elephants were again Walden with six assists and Walker with seven aces.
Gainesville (14-5, 2-0 Region 8-AAA) travels to Oconee for a tri-match with Oconee and Walnut Grove on Tuesday.
NORTH HALL WINS TWO IN QUAD MATCH: Kristina Gregory had eight aces, 18 assists and 13 kills for the Lady Trojans as they took wins over Rabun County 25-7, 25-19 and Lakeview 20-25, 25-22, 25-22 and lost to West Forsyth 20-25, 20-25.
North Hall’s Sarah Paschall contributed four kills and 21 digs.
Lakeview also beat Rabun County 25-5, 25-14 before losing to North Hall and West Forsyth 15-25, 7-25.
Jamie Nixon had 17 kills on the night for the Lakeview, while Molly Gay had 17 assists. Bailey Tolles added 13 assists to go along with Katie White’s seven kills for the Lady Lions.
Lakeview (10-9, 3-1 Region 8-A) plays at 5 p.m. on Tuesday versus Madison County.
