Sarah Beth English placed third with a time of 21 minutes to lead the Chestatee girls to a first-place team finish at the West Hall Invitational on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Maggee Wilson placed fifth for the Lady War Eagles at 21:32.6.

The boys team placed second overall, led by Jason Dang, who finished in 17 minutes, 38.7 seconds.

The Lakeview Academy boys team took sixth, led by Dustin Snyder in sixth at 16:55, Dalton Snyder in eighth at 17:08 and Lewis Brooks in 10th at 17:15.


JOHNSON SPLITS PAIR (Tuesday): Kelly Chance led the Lady Knights with 10 aces, nine assists and five digs in a win against Monroe Area (25-13, 27-25) and a loss to North Oconee (25-10, 25-13) on Tuesday in Oakwood.

Brooke Balenger added seven kills, five digs and a block for Johnson (5-13, 2-1 Area 8-AAAA), and Cassie McDonald had five digs and four kills.

The Lady Knights visit East Hall for a play date on Saturday in Gainesville.

JEFFERSON GETS AREA WIN (Tuesday): Grace Williamson tallied 22 digs, 14 kills and four aces to lead the Lady Dragons in a win against Rabun County (25-14, 25-14) and losses to Wesleyan (25-13, 25-15) and Greater Atlanta Christian (25-18, 25-17, 27-25) on Thursday in Jefferson.

Paige Watson added 30 assists and a pair of aces for Jefferson, and Madison Corbett had 24 assists and seven aces. Abby Wood tallied 12 kills, five digs and three aces for the Lady Dragons, and Olivia Przybysz had 22 digs.

Jefferson plays host to Prince Avenue Christian and Chestatee on Thursday in Jefferson.


EAST HALL 6, BANKS COUNTY 1 (Tuesday): Abby Black went 2 for 4 with a run scored to lead the Lady Vikings on Tuesday.

Natalie Winters earned the win from the circle for East Hall, striking out five over seven innings.
