Wood ties for 14th for Lumpkin County girls at state golf meet

Lumpkin County’s Morgan Wood shot a 91 to tie for 14th place individually in the Class AAAA girls state golf tournament on Monday at Nob North Golf Course in Cohutta.

The Lady Indians finished 13th as a team with a score of 326. Taylor Gooch carded a 107 for Lumpkin County, and Haley Dibble finished with a 128.

The Johnson girls team finished ninth in the tournament with a 298. Lauren Smith led the Lady Knights with a 95, Kristin Waters shot a 97, and Taylor Young carded a 106.

WEST HALL GIRLS FINISH SEVENTH: Malorie Smith shot a team-low 83 as the Lady Spartans finished seventh overall at the Class AAA girls state tournament Monday at Chateau Elan in Braselton.

Smith birdied the 15th hole, then followed it up with a hole-in-one from 121 yards on 16.

NORTH HALL BOYS PLACE 13TH: Hunter Young carded a 75 and tied 11th on the individual leaderboard as the Trojans placed 13th at the Class AAA boys state tournament Monday at Reunion Golf Club in Hoschton.
