The Flowery Branch High girls basketball team kept its season alive by outlasting Lumpkin County in a 67-62 double overtime thriller in a Region 7-AAA tournament game on Tuesday at Chestatee High.
With the game tied at 44 at the end of regulation, the two teams settled the score over two overtime periods, with the Lady Falcons (11-14) outscoring the Lady Indians (4-20) 23-18 in overtime to earn the win and continue tournament play.
Jessica Harper led Flowery Branch with 20 points. Clare Tyler scored 11 points and Cash Champion and Tangie each had 10.
Ashley Brown matched her career-high of 32 points for Lumpkin County. Cara Malone scored 17 points and Kayna Clemons added 10.
Flowery Branch visits Chestatee in the tournament quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Lumpkin County’s season is complete.
West Hall girls 47, Creekview 39
A fast start in the first half powered the Lady Spartans in their Region 7-AAA tournament opener Monday at Chestatee High.
Jayla Moon led West Hall (10-15) with 21 points. Emily Hammond added 10 points.
Madison Rice led Creekview with 13 points. Katelyn Thomas added 10.
West Hall visits Gainesville in the tournament quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
