The Johnson High volleyball team ended the regular season on a positive note, sweeping Buford (25-17, 25-19) and West Hall (25-14, 25-15) on Thursday in Buford.
Mary Fiorentino led the Lady Knights (24-12, 8-3 Area 7-AAA) with 12 kills and five digs. Annabeth Peace had five kills and seven digs, Laura Gazaway had five digs and two aces, Jordan Gustavel had five kills and four digs and Katie Clark added eight kills for Johnson.
West Hall (15-23, 3-7) also lost to Buford (25-15, 16-25, 25-18). Abigail Grindle led the Lady Spartans with 12 kills and seven digs, Erica Grainger had 9 assists, five kills and four digs, Jessica Hollis had 28 digs and Tonya Bennett added four kills.
Johnson opens the Area 7-AAA tournament against North Hall while West Hall opens against East Hall. Both matches are at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Creekview.
Buford opens the Area 4-A/AA tournament at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Providence Christian.
Gainesville ends season with road losses
The Lady Red Elephants wrapped up their regular season with losses to Cass (25-12, 23-25, 25-18) and Harrison (25-9, 25-18) on Thursday in Kennesaw.
Taylor Ricketts led Gainesville (5-26, 1-11 Area 7-AAA) with 15 kills, 15 digs, six assists and three aces. Loren Thomas had 12 assists and nine digs, Kiki Thompson had 16 digs and eight kills, Katelyn Whelchel had nine assists, Kate Callahan had two kills, two assists, two digs and two blocks and Jazmine Jones added four blocks.
Gainesville opens the 7-AAA tournament against Chestatee at 5 p.m. Tuesday at West Forsyth.
Flowery Branch edges North Hall in season finale
The Lady Falcons ended the regular season with a win against North Hall (25-15, 21-25, 25-17) on Thursday in Flowery Branch.
North Hall (18-16, 7-4 Area 7-AAA) also defeated Shiloh (25-23, 8-25, 25-20). Evann Rowland led the Lady Trojans with 44 digs and 13 kills. Katherine Filchak had 13 blocks, 12 kills, three aces and six digs, Kathryn Bell had 30 assists, seven kills and four aces, Anna Marchman had eight kills and five blocks, Kelsey Marlatt had 27 digs and three aces and Betsy Burns added 10 blocks.
Flowery Branch (29-9, 9-2) opens the Area 7-AAA tournament against the winner of Pickens and Gilmer at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at West Forsyth. North Hall opens the tournament against Johnson at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Creekview.
Lakeview splits road meet
The Lady Lions had a win against East Jackson (25-15, 25-18) and a loss to West Forsyth (25-20, 25-15) on Thursday in Commerce.
Louisa Jacobs had seven kills and eight digs for Lakeview Academy (8-16, 3-3 Area 8-A/AA). Liz Clark had seven kills and seven digs, Emilie Norton had 15 assists, Jess Berzack had two digs and seven assists, Ivey Godfrey had three kills, Heather Styles had two aces and Megan Rochester and Morgan Black each had two kills for the Lady Lions.
Lakeview Academy finishes the regular season when it plays host to Tallulah Falls and Athens Christian at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
North Georgia Christian sweeps
The Lady Chargers defeated Forsyth Christian in three straight games (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) on Thursday in Cumming.
Katherine Dunlap had 14 kills and six aces for North Georgia Christian. Hannah Parker had eight kills and Rebecca Champy had six kills and three aces for the Lady Chargers.
North Georgia Christian returns to Cumming at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Horizon Christian.
