The Jefferson High basketball team won its first meeting of the year against rival Commerce by a score of 58-46 on Friday in Jefferson.
With the win, the Dragons (4-1) have now won three straight games after losing their season opener.
Darius Minor was the lone Jefferson scorer in double figures with 15 points.
Talmadge Green led Commerce (1-2) with 12 points.
Jefferson visits Union County at 8:30 p.m. next Friday. Commerce plays host to Hebron Christian ay 7:30 p.m. today.
Creekview girls 54, Dawson County 31
The Lady Grizzlies used a 24-point third quarter to pull away from Dawson County and lock up a win late on Friday in Dawsonville.
Danielle Tidwell led Creekview with 16 points. Savannah Turner also had double figures, with 14.
Cheyenne Bennett led the Lady Tigers with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Dawson County (2-4) faces Pacelli at 1:15 p.m. today at Philips Arena.
White County boys 59, Union County 41
Ashely Lowery led the Warriors with 21 points on Friday in Cleveland.
Tyler Dotson also scored in double figures for White County (2-5) with 13.
Jake Gooch led Union County with 16 points. Clay McConnell added 11 for the Panthers.
White County plays host to Pickens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Banks County boys 62, Brookstone 46
The Leopards opened the Prince Avenue Holiday Tournament with a win on Friday in Athens.
Four Banks County (6-1) scored in double figures, led by Kevin Daniel’s 16 points, followed by Ryan Griffin’s 14, Chase Armour’s 12 and Kasey Hudgins’ 10 points.
Will Bailey led Brookstone with 14 points.
Banks County plays the winner of Prince Avenue Christian and Oglethorpe County in the tournament championship at 7:30 tonight.
