Cockfield leads undefeated Johnson past West Hall 65-40

Ty Cockfield scored a game-high 26 points as undefeated Johnson (20-0) topped West Hall 65-40 on Saturday. Rod English was also in double figures, scoring 15 for the Knights.

Esteban Ulloa had a team-high 18 points for the Spartans.

On Tuesday, Johnson hosts North Hall; West Hall hosts Fannin County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Oakwood.

WEST HALL GIRLS 55, JOHNSON 40: Macy Passmore and Avery Prather each scored 11 points to lead the Lady Spartans to a non-region win Saturday.

Sarah Williams’ 22 points paced the Lady Knights.

West Hall (9-11) hosts Fannin County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 58, ATHENS ACADEMY 23: Hanna Grogan tallied a game-high 19 points as the Lady Lions improved their Region 8-A record to 8-0 after leading 35-8 at the half.

Anna House pitched in nine points for Lakeview, which improved to 12-6 overall.

The Lions play at Tallulah Falls on Tuesday night.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 70, ATHENS ACADEMY 61: Tae Turner led a trio of Lions scorers in double figures with 20 points on Saturday in Gainesville. Joshua Randolph had 13 for Lakeview Academy (13-8, 7-2 Region 8-A), and Daniel Fadool added 11 points.

On Tuesday, Lakeview visits Tallulah Falls at 7:30 p.m.

BUFORD GIRLS 55, MORGAN COUNTY 36: The top-ranked Lady Wolves avenged a 46-44 suffered Dec. 6 at Morgan County with an outing in which they led by as many as 34 points in the third quarter.

Camille Anderson paced Buford with 20 points, and Chandler Hall chipped in 10.

Buford (18-0) returns to Region 8-AAAA action at Monroe Area at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

LOVETT BOYS 51, RIVERSIDE MILITARY ACADEMY 34: Chris Howard led the Eagles with nine points in Saturday’s non-region loss in Gainesville.

Riverside (5-12) hosts Union County at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Region 8-AA play.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 55, BANKS COUNTY 40: The Lady Tigers won a battle of Region 7-AAA’s top two teams behind 19 points from Haley Burgess, including 12 in the first quarter. Dawson County improved to 21-0 overall and 8-0 in the region.

The Lady Leopards fought back to tie the contest 32-all in the third quarter after Dawson County led 22-10 through one quarter, but the Lady Tigers closed the quarter on a 14-4 run for a 46-36 lead entering the fourth.

Sheyenne Seabolt added 15 points and nine rebounds for Dawson County, which got 13 points and 13 rebounds from Ashley Parker.

The Tigers host Franklin County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
