Peyton Robertson scored 21 points and added seven rebounds as the Chestatee girls basketball team defeated Union County 51-38 on Monday in Blairsville.

Rachel Kelly added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Melissa Bailey scored nine points with six rebounds for No. 8 Chestatee (14-2, 2-0 Region 8A-AAA), which lead 22-20 at halftime and outscored the Lady Panthers by eight points in the second half. The Lady War Eagles host Lumpkin County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Union County (6-6) was led by Angie Hughes with 15 points, the only Lady Panther in double digits. Union County visits Banks County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

UNION COUNTY BOYS 63, CHESTATEE 43: Seth Merritt led Class AA’s eighth-ranked Panthers (12-0) with 19 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals on Monday in Blairsville. Zach Odom added 10 points for Union County, which opens Region 8A-AA play at Banks County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Homer.

Leading 27-20 at halftime, Union County pulled away with 24 third-quarter points.

Chestatee plays host to Lumpkin County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Gainesville.

WALNUT GROVE GIRLS 70, JOHNSON 37: Caitlin Sloan scored 13 points and Harlee Robson added four assists and four steals in the loss Monday in Gainesville.
Ryleigh Shannon had four assists and Lyndsey Pethel pulled down six rebounds for Johnson (8-7, 2-1 Region 8B-AAA).
