High School Scoreboard: Gabe McConnell's walk-off single leads Lakeview Academy over Towns County

The Lakeview Academy baseball team defeated Towns County, 2-1, on a walk-off RBI single by Gabe McConnell on Tuesday.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, Peyton Solinsky led off with a triple for the Lions. Alec Bornhorst (1 for 3) drove Solinsky home to tie the game. It set up McConnell (2 for 3) for the game-winning hit, scoring Bornhorst.

Lakeview’s Rett Kinsey pitched a complete game, allowing one unearned run on five hits with three strikeouts to earn the win.

Lakeview Academy (4-12) visits Providence Christian at 5 p.m. today.

JEFFERSON 7, HART COUNTY 0: Taylor Wilkes pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and Zach Boobas went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Dragons on Tuesday night.

Kasen Rainey also went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Jefferson, and Joshua Hutch went 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

Jefferson (13-3, 9-1 8-AAA) visits Hart County for a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Soccer

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, LANIER 0: Caroline Nabb scored twice and Alondra Wedding made 10 saves to preserve the shutout on Tuesday.

Breana Fair and Alyssa Turner (penalty kick) scored the other two goals for the Lady Red Elephants.

Gainesville (11-2, 8-0 8-AAAAA) hosts Flowery Branch at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 5, PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN 2: Carmen Wagner scored four goals for the Lady Lions on Tuesday.

Meredith Tucker scored off a free kick, and goalkeeper Reece Johnson made 10 saves for Lakeview Academy.

Lakeview Academy (10-3, 5-0 8-A) hosts Johnson on Apr. 12.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 2, PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN 1: Andrew Miller Bell and Bryce Kimball each scored a goal for the Lions, while Ben Eades had 10 saves in net on Tuesday.

Lakeview Academy (7-4, 5-0 8-A) hosts Johnson High 7 p.m. on Apr. 12.

NORTH HALL BOYS 9, MONROE AREA 1: Alec Zimmerman led the scoring with a hat trick on Tuesday night.

Hunter Carter and Sammy Diaz both had two goals, and Garret Jones and Blanton Jimerson each scored one.

North Hall (3-7-2, 2-3 8-AAAA) hosts North Oconee on Friday.

GAINESVILLE GIRLS 4, LANIER 1: Katherine Wright and Haley Frankum won in singles, and Paige Patterson/Madi Kiser and Paige Ackerman/Sally Callahan won in doubles on Tuesday.

GAINESVILLE BOYS 4, LANIER 1: Reagan Williams and Jackson Fox won in singles, and Jeff Kiser/Trevor Munn and Roan Thompson/Thomas Carter won doubles on Tuesday.

Gainesville will resume a rainout match with Loganville today at Longwood Park.
