High School Scoreboard: Flowery Branch girls, boys win White County Christmas Classic tourney

The Lady Falcons of Flowery Branch remained unbeaten with a 63-26 victory over Forsyth Central to win the White County Christmas Classic in Cleveland Saturday.

Julianne Sutton was named tournament MVP and Taniah Worth was named to the All-Tournament squad.

Both players posted a double-double on the night. Sutton had 21 points and 14 rebounds. Worth posted 11 points and 17 rebounds.

The Lady Falcons will play West Hall at 3 p.m. on Dec. 28 at Johnson High as they open up the Lanierland tournament.

FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 60, WHITE COUNTY 55: Trey Bailey was named tournament MVP and Brannon Clark was honored as a member of the All-Tournament team as the Flowery Branch Falcons (6-5, 1-4) won the White County Christmas Classic in Cleveland. Bailey chipped in 9 points in the game. Clark had 13, but it was John Mills who led the Falcons with 20.Flowery Branch will carry the victory into the Lanierland tournament as its next game comes against Chestatee at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 28 at Johnson High.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY GIRLS 66, CHATTANOOGA CHRISTIAN (TENN.) 45: Ryann Moody and Hanna Grogan led the Lady Lions with 13 points each on Saturday in Gainesville. Christen Copeland added 12 for Lakview Academy. The Lions face North Hall in the opening round of the Lanierland at noon on Dec. 28 at Johnson High.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS 54, CHATTANOOGA CHRISTIAN (TENN.) 43: The Lions (8-1, 2-0 8-A) were led by Drew Cottrell with 13 points. Evan Pitts posted 10 and Daniel Fadool had eight assists in the contest. Next up, Lakeview will face East Hall in the opening round of the Lanierland tournament at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 at Johnson High.

BANKS COUNTY BOYS 69, HART COUNTY 61: The Leopards (9-0) remain unbeaten with their eight-point victory over the Bulldogs. Zez Steeple put up 20 points in the winning effort. Kahmal Wiley and Zac Orr both had 14 in the game. Orr also had 19 rebounds to mark a double-double. The Leopards will host North Hall at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 55, COLUMBUS 53: Dawson County (4-5, 0-2 7-AAA) was led by Jeremiah Crumley with 19 points. Cullen Reed had 11 and Gabe Bryant added 11. The Tigers will travel to Pickens County and will start at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 57, HARDAWAY (COLUMBUS) 21: The Lady Tigers (9-0, 2-0 7-AAA) are still perfect after picking up their second win in the Pacelli Christmas Tournament Saturday in Columbus. Karlie Bearden led the Lady Tigers with 13 points, while Kaylee Sticker had 10. Dawson County will travel to Pickens County Monday and will start at 6 p.m.

BUFORD GIRLS 41, NORTHWEST WHITFIELD 32: The Lady Wolves (5-2) were led by Jessica Nelson with 10 in the victory. Buford will travel to Woodward Academy Monday where it will play Sparkman High (Ala.) at 4 p.m.
