North Hall took seven wrestlers to the Class AAA east sectional tournament this weekend at Morgan County High in Madison.
All seven Trojans finished in the top four at the tournament and are headed to the state championships starting Friday at the Gwinnett Arena.
Caleb Hamilton captured the only sectional championship for North Hall at 120 pounds.
Darrien Ingram (195) and Michael Carew (132) finished in second, and Taylor Marett (113) took third place.
David Lush (138), Matthew Scavuzzo (145) and Isaiah Hale (182) all came in fourth for the Trojans.
The East sectional featured teams from Area 1-AAA and Area 4-AAA, which is home to North Hall, West Hall, Buford, East Hall, Banks County and White County.
For Buford, five wrestlers ended the day as sectional champions. Jack Barber took home the crown at 126, and Brayden Hartley (132), Trent Ferguson (138), Rudy Guillen (145) and Chip Ness (195) all finished in first as well.
Eli Hartley (106) and Darius Bunch (112) both took second place, and Justin Loredo (220) came in fourth.
Banks County will send seven wrestlers to the state meet as well. Chris McCrackin (113), Dylan Settles (120), Tommy Fultz (138), Tristan Guthrie (152), Wes Faulkner (160), Phillip Dean (182) and Matt Dilbeck (220) all finished in the sectional’s top four to qualify for the state tournament.
Overall, 45 wrestlers from Area 4-AAA are headed to the state tournament, compared to 11 from 1-AAA.
CLASS AAAAA: Gainesville saw six wrestlers earn places in the state tournament during the Class AAAAA East Sectional Saturday at Cambridge High in Milton.
Rodney Timmons (138) and Triston Cantrell (182) each finished third to lead the Red Elephants.
Ken Flenoy, Chastin Newman and Kash Jones took home fifth place for Gainesville, and Anthony Costantini finished eighth.
CLASS AAAA: Eight Chestatee wrestlers finished in the top eight at the Class AAAA East Sectional this weekend at Lanier High in Sugar Hill.
Christian Zapatero was the War Eagles’ top finisher, earning second place at 126 pounds.
Grayson Entrekin (285) finished third, and Zac Cheshire (152) took fourth.
Johnathan Alcala (106) and Trevor Comeaux came in sixth, and Matthew McClellan (132), Marvin Cunningham (138) and Joey Meruelo all finished seventh.
The Lakeview Academy girls finished the regular season in a tie for the top spot in Region 8-A after an 88-58 victory over Pinecrest Academy on Saturday in Cumming.
Danielle Morgan’s 23 points led the Lady Lions (18-7, 12-2), who will hold a coin flip with Towns County to decide the No. 1 seed for next week’s region tournament.
Schyler Miller notched 17 points for Lakeview Academy, Hanna Grogan tallied 13 points, and Kaylee McClendon added 12. Lakeview Academy will hold a coin flip with Towns County on Sunday for the No. 1 seed to the Region 8-A tournament this week.
RIVERSIDE MILITARY 74, SOCIAL CIRCLE 32: Avery Cagle led the way for the Eagles with 18 points Saturday in the final game of the regular season.
Brandon Mayers and Jake Weiner each finished with 11 points for Riverside Military (10-11), which will play in the Region 8-AA tournament beginning on Tuesday at Rabun County High in Tiger.
CHESTATEE BOYS 85, MONROE AREA 48: Jordan Pulliam notched 21 points, seven rebounds and seven assists to lead the War Eagles on Saturday in Monroe.
Hunter Creamer put up 21 points and grabbed six rebounds for Chestatee, and Jordan Stubblefield added 10 points and eight rebounds.
The War Eagles face Eastside on Tuesday at Lanier High in Sugar Hill in the first round of the Region 8-AAAA tournament.
WEST HALL BOYS 59, NORTH HALL 55: Hunter Atkinson’s 14 points led the Spartans (140-14, 5-9 Region 7-AAA) on Saturday in Gainesville.
Nic Sullens added 12 for West Hall, and Tyquan Statham notched 10.
North Hall was led by Carson Heinen’s game-high 26 points, and Evan Easton contributed with 12.
North Hall visits Dawson County on Wednesday in Dawsonville.
NORTH HALL GIRLS 58, WEST HALL 44: Sydney Cleveland scored 17 points for the Lady Trojans (17-8, 9-5 Region 7-AAA) on Saturday in Gainesville.
Kensi Gillespie added 14 for North Hall, and Taylor Anne Kelley tallied 10 points.
DAWSON COUNTY GIRLS 55, BANKS COUNTY 51: Ashley Parker paced the Lady Tigers with 20 points on Saturday in Dawsonville.
Haley Burgess added 14 points, and Sheyenne Seabolt notched 12 for Dawson County (17-6, 8-6 Region 7-AAA).
The Lady Tigers play in the Region 7-AAA tournament next week.
DAWSON COUNTY BOYS 53, BANKS COUNTY 38: The Tigers finished out the regular season and earned the No. 2 seed in Region 7-AAA on Saturday in Dawsonville.
Lucas Pain paced Dawson County (19-6) with 15 points, and Jonathan Sanderson and Cameron Millholland each added 10.
For Banks County, Gatlin Boswell scored 14 points.
The Tigers play host to North Hall in the first round of the Region 7-AAA tournament at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
EAST HALL GIRLS 52, FANNIN COUNTY 39: Jenny Edwards tallied 16 points for the Lady Vikings on Saturday in Blue Ridge.
Jatasia Bailey added 11 points for East Hall (12-13, 5-9 Region 7-AAA), and Ashlyn Ellison scored 10.
The Lady Vikings play in the Region 7-AAA tournament next week.
