The Gainesville boys weathered a tough second half against Cedar Shoals but were able to come out on top 53-51 in the Region 8-AAAAA tournament on Monday in Loganville. The Red Elephants led 26-15 at half thanks to a strong defensive effort, but Cedar Shoals stormed back in the third and fourth quarters to challenge the team. Gainesville’s Luke Maddox paced the team with 24 points.
