High school scoreboard: Falcons win seventh straight

The Flowery Branch High baseball team extended its winning streak to seven games with an 18-5 win against Johnson on Wednesday in Oakwood.

James Wilson was 4-for-6 with five RBIs while earning the win on the mound for the Falcons (9-3, 8-3 Region 7-AAA). Bucky Free was also 4-for-6 with two RBIs.

Brad Stone, Jimmy Fitzgerald, Preston Bostic and Robby Boudreau each had two hits and Jordan Wilson added a home run for Flowery Branch.

Fletcher Whiting had two hits for Johnson (1-12, 1-10).

Buford 6, Lovett 1

The Wolves suffered its first region loss of the year on Wednesday in Atlanta.

Cody Getz had two of Buford's three hits in the game. Tyler White also doubled for the Wolves (6-6, 1-1 Region 6-AA).

Buford plays host to Greater Atlanta Christian at 4 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville boys 7, East Hall 3 (Tuesday)


Russ Puckett, Yonis Yanes and Jesus Penaloza led the Red Elephants in their highest-scoring game of the season Tuesday at City Park.

Gainesville (8-3, 4-3 Area 7-AAA) plays host to West Forsyth at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

TENNIS

West Hall boys 5, East Hall 0 (Tuesday)


The Spartans lost only four games in all their matches for a subregion win Tuesday.

Brenden Worth, Jimmy Kincaid and Tyler Burgramy each won in singles for West Hall (8-5, 5-2 Region 7B-AAA). Kyle Weatherly and Andrew Johnson completed the sweep for Johnson, with the final coming by default at No. 2 doubles.

West Hall plays host to Gainesville at 4 p.m. today.

East Hall visits Johnson at 4 p.m. today.
