High school scoreboard: Dawson County boys stay undefeated

Stephen Scaife hit a basket off the glass at the buzzer to lead the Dawson County boys basketball team to a 55-53 overtime win against Banks County on Tuesday night in Homer.

Jacob Evans scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and Tyler Dominy added 11 points for the Tigers (8-0, 3-0 Region 8-AA).

Devin O’Donnell scored 13 points and Kevin Daniel scored 12 points to lead the Leopards (1-2).

Dawson County plays host to Jefferson at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Banks County visits Commerce at 7 p.m. Friday.

BUFORD BOYS 64, AVONDALE 58: Jake Burnette scored 17 points to lead the Wolves in their region opener on Tuesday night in Avondale Estates.

Kyle Kellam and T.J. Shipes added 14 points each for the Wolves (2-0, 1-0 Region 6-AA).

Buford faces North Hall at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega.

BUFORD GIRLS 62, AVONDALE 18: Andraya Carter scored 16 points to lead the Buford girls on Tuesday.
Lacey Pass added 11 points for the Lady Wolves (2-0, 1-0 Region 6-AA).

Buford faces North Hall at 4 p.m. Dec. 18 at North Georgia College and State University.

JEFFERSON BOYS 62, FANNIN COUNTY 54: J.J. Damons scored 18 points to lead the Dragons on Tuesday in Blue Ridge.

Darius Minor and David Watson both added 14 points for Jefferson (2-4, 1-0 Region 8B-AA).

The Dragons visit Dawson County at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

RIVERSIDE 67, EAST JACKSON 61: Richard Tribble scored 24 points and Dylen Setzkorn added 15 for the Eagles (4-1) on Tuesday. 

Tarvin Dukes was also in double figures with 12 points for Riverside.

Brandon Garrett led East Jackson with 28 points and Cody Gibbs added 21. 

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN 80, HORIZON CHRISTIAN 70: Ashton Wright scored 20 points and added five assists to lead the Chargers on Tuesday night in Gainesville.

Zack Pendley added 17 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, and Nathan Wright scored 14 points for North Georgia Christian.

The Chargers (10-1) visit Trinity Academy at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Clarkesville.

Wrestling

West Hall’s wrestling team defeated Chestatee 35-34 on Tuesday night in Oakwood.

Omar Lopez (112 pounds), Justin Byrne (130), Logan Herford (135) and Collins Wright (145) all won by pins for the Spartans.

Tanner Yates (125) also added a win with a technical.

West Hall visits the Creekview Invitational on Dec. 11 in Canton.
