Chestatee High’s boys basketball team picked up its first win since January 2015 on Saturday with a 64-51 win over Jackson County.
The War Eagles (1-2) outscored the Panthers (0-1) in by 12 in the second half to create the separation of their lead.
Cooper Wilson led Chestatee with 29 points. Donovan Hernandez scored 17 and Nick Lyles pulled nine rebounds.
Brock McCullum scored 16 points for Jackson County and Christian Smith posted 11.
The War Eagles will host Habersham Central at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
CHESTATEE GIRLS 49, JACKSON COUNTY 41: Lindsey Caudell posted 30 points for the Lady War Eagles (2-0) on Saturday as they picked up their second win of the young season. Peri Satterfield contributed seven points. Chestatee will host Habersham Central at 6 p.m. Monday.
FLOWERY BRANCH BOYS 64, FORSYTH CENTRAL 60: Justin Quick’s 20 points bolstered the Falcons’ (3-0) offense in their win on Saturday. Brannon Clark scored 15 and John Mills added 11 for Flowery Branch. The Falcons will host Chestatee at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
FLOWERY BRANCH GIRLS 62, PEACHTREE RIDGE 35: The Lady Falcons won their first-round game in the Jefferson Tabo tipoff tournament on Saturday. Taniyah Worth led Flowery Branch with 17 points with Julianne Sutton scoring 11. The Lady Falcons will play Winder Barrow at 4 p.m. Monday in Jefferson.
CREEKVIEW GIRLS 42, DAWSON COUNTY 33: Creekview outscored the Lady Tigers (0-2) 28-15 in the second half of their opening-round game in the North Forsyth Thanksgiving Tournament. Seven different Dawson County players scored. Abi Chatham and Kaylee Sticker led the Lady Tigers with six points each. Dawson County plays Alpharetta at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
BANKS COUNTY GIRLS 60, EAST HALL 48: The Lady Leopards (2-0) were led by Jaycie Bowen’s 24 points and nine rebounds in Saturday’s win. Gabby Kennedy added eight points and six rebounds. Banks County travels to Hart County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
EAST HALL BOYS 77, BANKS COUNTY 75: The Vikings topped the Leopards (1-1) in the final three seconds of the contest on Saturday in Homer. Dylan Orr led Banks County with 17 points and seven rebounds. Carl Cleveland and Gabe Martin each had 16 points. Cleveland added six rebounds. Stetson Boswell added 10 for the Leopards. Banks County will travel to Hart County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
