Starting pitcher Macy Banks recorded seven strikeouts and only surrendered one earned run on three hits to lead the East Hall Lady Vikings to a 6-1 Region 7-AAA victory against Lumpkin County in Dahlonega on Tuesday.
Banks allowed one walk and struck out three over her seven innings of work.
Banks also racked up three RBIs on a bases-loaded walk and a fifth-inning single.
Lady Vikings (12-8, 8-3 Region 7-AAA) scored in the first inning on a walk by Steffanie Redmon, an RBI single by Kaitlyn Daniel and a walk by Banks.
East Hall hosts Chestatee at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Gainesville.
BUFORD 7, JOHNSON 0: Chandler Wright gave the Lady Wolves (15-1, 5-0 Region 8-AAAAA) a good night in the circle as she tossed four innings to pick up a win. Wright moved to 3-0, allowing two hits and two walks, while striking out a pair.
Shea Bayreuther was 3 for 4 at the plate, including a double, with a run scored. Katie Perkins (2 for 3) and Mariah Wicker (2 for 4) each added an RBI. Wicker also scored a run. Rebecca Wilson was also 2 for 4 at the dish.
The Lady Wolves will begin play in the Ram Classic today with a game at 5 p.m. against Etowah before turning around at 7:30 p.m. to face Collins Hill. Both games will be played at Collins Hill. Buford will be back at home Thursday for Senior Night.
JOHNSON SPLITS A TRI-MATCH WITH CLARKE CENTRAL AND LOGANVILLE: Johnson’s Grace Eidson racked up six service aces with 18 kills and six digs in Tuesday’s tri-match. The Lady Knights fell to Clarke Central 2-0 (25-22, 25-23) before notching the victory over Loganville in straight sets (25-13, 25-22). Lady Knight Samantha Summerville totaled six aces, eight kills and eight digs.
The Lady Knights (16-12, 3-2 8-AAAAA) also got production from Alivia Farley, who contributed five aces, nine kills, 18 assists and 12 digs. Emma Hernandez finished the night with four blocks and eight digs, while Julia Bowers totalled 12 digs.
Johnson hosts Lakeview and West Hall at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Gainesville.
WEST HALL SPLITS A TRI-MATCH WITH CEDAR SHOALS AND FLOWERY BRANCH: Shelbie Conde led the attack with five kills and six digs in the Lady Spartans’ victory over Cedar Shoals 2-0 (32-30, 25-12).
Fellow Lady Spartan Kinsey Wilson led the defense with four kills. West Hall’s Ashley Alverson finished the match with 16 serves with one ace.
Amber Fite tallied three kills for the Lady Spartans’ in a straight-set loss (25-19, 25-19) to Flowery Branch.
Lady Spartans’ (12-21) Wilson contributed two blocks for the defense and Reagan Horton finished the match with six digs.
Jena Killian of Flowery Branch led the Lady Falcons attack with 10 kills, one block, and an assist against West Hall. Oriah Ware, who came off the bench and posted nine assists and a service ace for the Lady Falcons.
Flowery Branch Madison Dowdy led the attack against the Lady Jaguars with 10 kills in a Lady Falcons win 2-0 (25-13, 25-9). Also for the Lady Falcons (17-5) Anna Marshall racked up seven kills in the match.
Flowery Branch plays Prince Avenue at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in Athens.
West Hall host Lakeview Academy 6 p.m. on Thursday in Gainesville.
BUFORD TOPS WALNUT GROVE: Buford’s Halston Hillier led the offense with six kills to help keep Buford’s 8-AAAAA undefeated record in Tuesday’s night 8-AAAAA win (25-9, 25-15). Lady Wolf (24-2, 5-0 8-AAAAA) Stella Alverson helped the offense with ten assists.
Buford plays St. Pius X 5:30 p.m. on Thursday in Atlanta.
NORTH HALL BEATS FANNIN COUNTY: North Hall’s Melissa DeVerter led the attack with 12 kills and two aces, and contributed to the defense with six blocks and 11 digs in Tuesday’s 7-AAA game against Fannin County (25-17, 25-9).
Lady Trojan (17-8, 3-0 7-AAA) Lily Paschall helped the offense with 12 assists and four kills.
North Hall plays in the Hall County Tournament on Saturday at Lakeview Academy.
JEFFERSON SPLITS TRI-MATCH WITH MADISON COUNTY AND NORTH OCONEE: Savannah Davis led the Lady Dragons (23-19) with 14 kills and five digs in Tuesday’s night tri-match. Jefferson won in two sets against Madison County (25-23, 25-17). Jefferson fell to North Oconee in two sets (25-23, 25-8). Lady Dragon Abby Wood totaled nine kills and 24 digs.
Jefferson plays a tri-match with Mountain View and Gainesville at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Lawerenceville.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BEAT TALLULAH FALLS: Lakeview Academy’s (19-16) Mary Brock led the offense with 14 points, eight kills, and helped the defense with four digs in Tuesday’s win against Tallulah Falls (25-21, 13-25, 25-17). Lady Lion Garrett Green finished with four points and five kills.
Lakeview Academy travels to West Hall for a tri-match with the Lady Spartans and North Hall at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Gainesville.
Lakeview Boys Cross Country finished eighth overall at the Jefferson meet Tuesday. The top runner was Wright Allen who finished 16th overall with a time of 18:39.
