Samantha Thomas hit a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to lift top-ranked Buford past Effingham County 4-3 in extra innings Friday at Lanier High in the Rumble in the Ridge tournament. Kennedy Kotula was the starting pitcher and allowed five hits in seven innings. Chandler Wright got the win in relief.Buford (2-0) travels to Peachtree Ridge to play Evans and North Gwinnett starting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
