Logan Jones hit a two-out, go-ahead single in the eighth inning and later scored the deciding run to give the Lakeview Academy Lions a 7-6 win over Athens Academy on Thursday in Athens.

Jones' single in the eighth scored Taylor Simpson, who pitched all eight innings for Lakeview Academy. Austin Montgomery and Dallas Deavers each went 3-for-5, with Deavers having a double and two RBIs.

Ted Reynolds went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored for the Lions, who visit Tallulah Falls at 5:15 p.m. today.

NORTH GEORGIA CHRISTIAN GIRLS 5, LOGANVILLE CHRISTIAN 0: Sarah Rhodes found the back of the net twice, and the North Georgia Christian girls soccer team defeated Loganville Christian, 5-0, Thursday in Loganville.

Nicole Ball, Jordan Ball and Sofy Munoz each recorded goals for the Lady Chargers, while Missy Maclagan earned the shutout in goal. North Georgia faces Creekside Christian at 11 a.m. Saturday in McDonough.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY BOYS PLACE SEVENTH IN REGION: Chris Gay (92) and Kevin Baldwin (99) led the Lions on Thursday at Highland Walk at Victoria Bryant State Park in Royston.

Lakeview, whose season is now complete, carded a team score of 396.

Tennis
LOVETT BOYS 3, JEFFERSON 1 (TUESDAY): Blair Buffington (6-2, 6-2) earned the only win for the Dragons in the first round of the Class A state playoffs at Lovett.

BLESSED TRINITY GIRLS 3, JEFFERSON 0 (TUESDAY): With the loss in the first round of the Class A state playoffs, the Lady Dragons' season is now complete.
