Blanche Alverson scored 17 points to lead the Lady Wolves to a 70-38 win over Rabun Countyon Saturday in the Class AA quarterfinals in Rome.
Top-ranked Buford, which has won 29 straight games, advances to the semifinals where it will play Laney High on Thursday.
"It feels great for our program, I'm really proud of these kids," Buford coach Gene Durden said. "To finally get to the next level, just makes me really proud."
The Lady Wolves (30-1) jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back.
"Blanche really started out fast tonight, both outside and inside," Durden said.
The Auburn commit was the only Buford player in double figures, but seven Lady Wolves scored, including nine points from Jocelyn Danley and eight points from Abby Johnson.
After bowing out of the state tournament in the quarterfinals the past two seasons, Durden was proud of the way his team handled themselves Saturday.
"Right now we have a very veteran team," he said. "I'm pleased with the way the girls handled this game. They were very business like and showed no nerves."
That business like approach had Buford leading 41-23 at the half and 59-27 after three quarters.
