Gainesville girls golf places fifth at state
Noble carded an 87 to lead the way

LeeAnn Noble, a senior, carded an 87 to lead the Gainesville High girls golf team to a round of 181 and fifth place in the Class AAA state championships Monday at the Chestatee Golf Club in Dawsonville. Meg Callahan was second for Gainesville with a 94.

Franklin County's Jessica Welch earned low-medalist honors, carding a 66 to lead the Lady Lions to the Class AAA state championship with a round of 157. Columbus (second place, 165), Woodward (third place, 167) and Saint Pius X (fourth place, 173) rounded out the top five.

Individually, Lumpkin County's Morgan Wood finished tied for 11th with a round of 92.
