The North Hall High football team clinched the 7A-AAA subregion title with a 53-7 win over Gilmer Friday in Ellijay.
With the win, North Hall (6-3, 5-0 Region 7A-AAA) also secured a home playoff game in the first round of the Class AAA state playoffs. This is the third consecutive season for the Trojans to win their subregion.
Trojan quarterback Blayne Gilmer completed 10 passes for 100 yards. North Hall had eight different players carry the ball Friday night. Avery Nix led the way for North Hall, rushing for 48 yards on seven carries. Matt Christmas, Peyton Wilhoite, and Graham Duncan added a combined 127 yards on the ground for the Trojans. The North Hall defense was anchored by Thomas Sprague with 10 tackles and Sam Weaver with seven.
North Hall visits Lumpkin County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Dahlonega.
Habersham Central 24, Salem 10
Quarterback Austin Brown led the way for the Raiders (6-4, 6-4 Region 8-AAAA) completing 18 passes for 263 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Kevin Ellison was the leading rusher for Habersham Central with 26 yards on 12 carries. Zach Mayfield caught six passes for 110 yards and a touchdown for the Raiders and Dee Ellison also had six catches for 82 yards. Keylan Myers led the Raider defense with 16 tackles.
Habersham Central's regular season is complete. The Raiders qualify for the playoffs with a loss by Cedar Shoals (5-4, 5-4) next Friday against Heritage.
White County 26, Pickens 10
The Warriors scored 19 fourth quarter points to knock off the Dragons on Friday in Jasper.
White County (5-4, 3-2 Region 7A-AAA) quarterback Chantz Segraves completed 10 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. Ashely Lowery led the Warriors rushing with 92 yards on 12 carries. Cam Segraves caught three passes and a touchdown on offense and also had two interceptions and forced a fumble on defense.
White County plays host to Gilmer at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Cleveland.
Pickens plays host to East Hall at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Jasper.
Banks County 42, Oglethorpe County 20
Justin Beasley led the Leopards with 257 yards rushing and four touchdowns Friday in Lexington.
Demetric Dempson also added to the Leopards 337 total rushing yards, with 61 yards and a touchdown. Banks County (5-4, 5-3 Region 8-AA) quarterback Chris Brown also contributed 14 yards rushing and a touchdown. Billy Pinson had an interception for the Leopards defense and Tyler Hulsey made a field goal from 30 yards out for Banks County.
Banks County visits Union County at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Blairsville.
East Jackson 28, Dawson County 21
Trailing by seven points late in the fourth quarter, the Tigers (3-6, 2-6 Region 8-AA) returned a kickoff to the Eagles 29 yard line. East Jackson's defense then intercepted Dawson County quarterback Chase Gilreath's pass to end the game.
Dawson County plays host to Riverside at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Gainesville.
Commerce 21, Social Circle 7
Tigers picked up their second consecutive win Friday in Commerce.
Deon Orsborne led the way for Commerce (4-5, 3-2 Region 8-A) rushing for 101 yards and a touchdown and passing for a touchdown. Jon Cash added 80 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Tigers.
Commerce visits Prince Avenue Christian at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Athens.
Athens Academy 42, Lakeview Academy 7
Patrick McCormac scored from one yard out in the fourth quarter for the Lions Friday in Athens.
Lex Little had 10 tackles for Lakeview (1-6, 0-5 Region 8-A) and Nick Saye had a pair of receptions for the Lions.
Lakeview plays host to Athens Christian at 7:30 p.m. next Friday in Gainesville.
Creekview 49, Lumpkin County 7
The Grizzlies (5-4, 4-1 Region 7A-AAA) downed the Indians on Friday night in Canton.
With the win, the Grizzlies (5-4, 4-1 Region 7A-AAA) control their own destiny to qualifying for the playoffs. Creekview earns the fourth and final playoff spot with a win at Chestatee next Friday at War Eagles Stadium.
Lumpkin County (4-5, 2-3) plays host to North Hall (6-3, 5-0) next Friday night in Dahlonega.
Oconee County 45, Jackson County 17
Zach Mettenberger completed 8-of-11 passes for 170 yards for the Warriors on Friday night in Jefferson. Jackson County plays host to Stephens County on Friday night in Jefferson in the season finale.
