East Hall’s Jasmine Jenkins scored 23 points in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association Juniors All-Star Game at Armstrong University in Savannah for Team North in its 80-79 overtime loss to Team South.
For her efforts, Jenkins earned North MVP.
“It’s a tremendous honor just to play in the game,” said East Hall coach Joey Rider, who attended the game. “To be named MVP is an even bigger honor and just puts her at another level.”
Players were selected to play in the game based on coach recommendations, which were reviewed by the GACA committee to make final decisions.
Along with Jenkins, Buford’s Andraya Carter was selected to Team North. Both Jenkins and Carter started and Carter finished with eight points. Jenkins finished her juinor season with the Vikings averaging 15.6 points and seven rebounds per game.
East Hall lost in the first round of the state Class AA state playoffs against Buford, the eventual Class AA state champions. Meanwhile, Carter earned the Class AA Player of the Year after averaging 16 points and 6.6 rebounds.
