Dawson County boys advance in Pacelli tourney with OT win

The Dawson County boys basketball team made its free throws count down the stretch Monday, sinking seven of eight in overtime to take a 49-40 win over Strong Rock Christian in the Pacelli High School Christmas Tournament.

In a slow-paced game, the Tigers trailed 18-12 at halftime and 25-23 at the end of the third quarter before rallying to tie the game with 17 fourth-quarter points. They then held Strong Rock Christian scoreless in overtime.

Dawson County sophomore Tyler Dominy led all scorers with 21 points. Stephen Johnson added 10.

Cody Smith led Strong Rock Christian with 20.

The Tigers will play the Pacelli-Beulah (Ala.) winner at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the tournament finals.
