Commerce falls to Wilkinson County, 21-7

Commerce High's 12th consecutive trip to the state playoffs ended with a 21-7 loss to Wilkinson County on Friday night in Irwinton.

Immanuel Shinholster had a 59 yard touchdown run in the first half for the Warriors (8-3). Demarious Hughes followed with a 14-yard touchdown for Wilkinson County.

Deon Orsborne finished with 22 carries for 166 yards rushing for Commerce (5-6). He scored on a run from the 1 in the fourth quarter for the Tigers.

Javon Womack had 13 carries for 68 yards for Commerce.

Shinholster added a 75-yard touchdown run for the Warriors in the second quarter. Tony McCrea followed with the two-point conversion.

This marks the second consecutive season that Commerce has been put out in the first round of the state playoffs. The Tigers advanced to the state semifinals in 2006.

Wilkinson County plays host to Whitefield Academy next Friday night in Irwinton.
