Towns County’s Ansley Vardeman finished first overall with a time of 21:34.37 and the Lady Indians finished with four of the top six runners Saturday to win the Class A public school girls cross country state championship in Macon.
Caitlin Sheffield (22:40.54) finished third, Sierra Nichols (22:47.21) came in fourth and Taylor Vardeman (23:17.65) finished sixth.
In the Class A private schools boys 5-kilometer race, Lakeview Academy finished eighth out of 16 teams. Dustin Snyder (17:13.61) finished 17th and Lewis Brooks (17:28.06) finished 24th for the Lions.
Commerce finished sixth in the public school boys race, led by Jose Rodriguez (19:39.60) in 20th, and Bradley Smith of Towns County finished seventh individually with a time of 18:48.34.
