Luke Cooper scored 21 points to lead the East Hall boys basketball team to a 87-69 win against Chestatee in the first round of the Lanierland tournament Wednesday at North Hall High School. The War Eagles cut a double-digit deficit to 47-40 early in the third quarter, but the Vikings closed the period on a 25-6 run to cruise into Thursday’s semifinal round at Gainesville High School. East Hall made 11 3-pointers and scored frequently in transition thanks to its swarming full-court press.
