All-Region baseball announced in 8-A

The Jefferson High and Lakeview Academy baseball teams were well represented in the Region 8-A All-Region team released on Tuesday.

The region champion Dragons had three players receive top honors at their positions. Jake Fields was named Infielder of the Year, Chris Beck was named pitcher of the year and Chase Harris was named Catcher of the Year.

Jefferson coach Tommy Knight was also honored with Coach of the Year.

Tyler Hill and Blaine Skaggs were named first-team outfielders, Jed Gurley was named first-team designated hitter and Cameron Blinn represented Jefferson as a first-team pitcher for the Dragons.

On second-team All-Area, Anthony Dowker was selected in the infield and Lucas Redd was selected in the outfield for Jefferson.

Lakeview Academy had three players on the first team, with Haughton Carswell selected in the infield, Ralston Cash at pitcher and Brett Armour at catcher.

Commerce had three second-team selections with Cohen Cooke in the infield, Reuben Haynes in the outfield and Carl Allen at designated hitter.

Lakeview plays host to Gordon Lee in a double-header at 2 p.m Friday in the first round of the Class A state playoffs. Jefferson plays host to Trion at 4:30 p.m Friday in a best-of-three series.
